Message to My Readers 062720

A little under two weeks ago, I uploaded an update to this blog.  What an eventful two weeks it has been.

Regarding the pandemic, there have been about 1.9 million new cases of COVID-19 in the world (24% increase), with about 60,000 (15% increase) new COVID-19 deaths in the world.  There have been about 360,000 (18% increase) new cases of COVID-19 in the USA, with about 9,300 (9% increase) new deaths in the USA.  There have been about 5,500 (7% increase) new cases of COVID-19 in Pennsylvania, with about 340 (6% increase) new deaths in Pennsylvania.  There have been about 1,300 (6% increase) new cases of COVID-19 in Philadelphia, with about 85 (6% increase) new deaths in Philadelphia.  By comparison, there have been about 1,900 (12% increase) new cases of COVID-19 in Nebraska, with about 45 (21% increase) new deaths in Nebraska. There have been about 200 (15% increase) new cases of COVID-19 in Lancaster County, Nebraska, with 0 (0% increase) in new deaths in Lancaster County, Nebraska.  At this rate (average of 715 deaths per day in the USA), we can expect to suffer another 261,000 deaths over the next 12 months, at which time there may be a safe and effective vaccine available to all Americans or therapeutic available for those with the worst infections.  Infection rates appear to be increasing in about half the states in the nation, with the fastest increases in those states that reopened very aggressively 4-8 weeks ago.

People are still trying to make clear to all citizens that black lives matter and criminal justice reform is urgently needed.  More killings of unarmed black men by police continue to come to our attention.

It is no longer sufficient to be passively non-Racist; it is necessary for all humans of good conscience to be actively anti-Racist.  To be anti-Fascist is to be anti-Racist.  It is time for the citizens to reform their local police departments.  It is time for economic justice and racial justice.

It has sometimes been difficult to classify the items in this blog according to subject matter.  That is because many issues are so inextricably interrelated.  I have tried to organize the articles/information/links into the following categories:

Veterans – info on former military members, the consequences of their service, etc.

Criminal Justice and Racism and Ageism and other discrimination – info on dehumanization, etc.

Economics and Coronavirus – info on the pandemic, its economic impacts, etc.

Economics and Corruption and Healthcare and Education – info on capitalism vs. socialism, etc.

Ecology and Pollution – info on climate change (greatest existential threat to life on earth), etc.

Politics and Coronavirus – info on how the political structure is responding to the pandemic, etc.

Politics – info on power struggles between parties and special interests, etc.

Terrorism – info on the middle east, other geopolitical topics, etc.

Military – info on DoD, Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, Navy, Coast Guard, National Guard, etc.

General and Miscellaneous – info on spirituality, music videos, etc.

I hope you find the material in this update to be informative and of interest.  If you do, please share the link for this blog with your friends through social media and through email.  There is no financial benefit to me to produce this blog; it is a labor of love for the biosphere, including all humanity.  Thanks for reading and sharing.

Feedback is welcome.
