Message to My Readers 121821

It has been 7 weeks since my last blog update.

This update is 117 pages of links to the news covering the last 7 weeks.  They appear in the categories listed below, including Veterans, Criminal Justice and Racism and Ageism and other discrimination, Economics and Coronavirus, Economics and Corruption and Healthcare and Education, Ecology and Pollution and Climate Change, Politics and Coronavirus, Politics, Terrorism, Military, and General and Miscellaneous.   Don’t forget to click on the items in the column on the right to open the pages for those categories.

Regarding the coronavirus pandemic, in the past seven weeks there have been 27 million new cases in the world, 349 thousand new deaths in the world, 4.8 million new cases in the U.S.A., 60 thousand new deaths in the U.S.A., 309 thousand new cases in Pennsylvania, 3,681 new deaths in Pennsylvania, 19 thousand new cases in Philadelphia, and 156 new deaths in Philadelphia.  During this past 7 six weeks, almost all the deaths were among the unvaccinated; there were almost no deaths among people who were vaccinated.  The cumulative totals for each of these categories since the beginning of the pandemic are now as follows: 274,257,685; 5,364,439; 51,611,479; 826,719; 1,874,155; 35,183; 201,667; and 4,174.

During the next few months, we will be contending with the new Omicron variant of the coronavirus.  The Omicron variant is much more contagious, but a bit less deadly, than the Delta variant we have been contending with over the past few months.  Therefore, it will be even more important to wear face masks and be fully vaccinated and boosted.  It has been predicted that we could have over a million deaths from Covid-19 in the United States (200,000 more than we have now) before the pandemic finally winds down.

We must continue to resist tyranny, fascism, authoritarianism, racism, sexism, misogyny, etc.  The three impurities of life are avarice, anger, and ignorance.  What others need from us is respect, kindness, and love.  The more respect, kindness, and love that we give to others, the more respect, kindness, and love we get in our lives and the better we feel about ourselves.
