Message to My Readers 110220

My last blog update was on 101720.  An eventful fifteen days have passed since then.  Since tomorrow is Election Day, I wanted to publish this update today.

This is likely the last blog update that I will publish for several reasons. First, I have reached an age milestone that prompts me to refocus on other tasks yet to be accomplished that only I can do.  Second, if the election outcome is as I hope, the largest immediate challenge to our democracy will have been addressed.  On the other hand, if the election outcome is as I fear, then our democracy has already been lost.  In either case, the cause must fall to the younger generations of our nation to sort everything out, correct course, and realign our nation with the best interests of all people on the planet.  I have tried to provide hints in this blog that will save humanity and most other species on the planet.

Regarding the pandemic, in the most recent 15-day period there have been about 7.7 million new cases of COVID-19 in the world, with the new total being 46,997,146, with about 102,600 COVID-19 deaths in the world, with the new total being 1,207,429.  The average number of new cases per day in the world was about 513,200.  The average number of deaths per day in the world was about 6,842.  There have been about 1,259,087 new cases of COVID-19 in the USA, with about 13,629 new deaths in the USA.  The average number of new cases per day in the USA was about 83,939.  The average number of deaths per day in the USA was about 909. There have been about 33,768 new cases of COVID-19 in Pennsylvania, with about 395 new deaths in Pennsylvania.  The average number of new cases per day in Pennsylvania was about 2,251.  The average number of deaths per day in Pennsylvania was about 26. There have been about 4,635 new cases of COVID-19 in Philadelphia, with about 33 new deaths in Philadelphia.  The average number of new cases per day in Philadelphia was about 309.  The average number of deaths per day in Philadelphia was about 2. By comparison, there have been about 14,952 new cases of COVID-19 in Nebraska, with about 107 new deaths in Nebraska. The average number of new cases per day in Nebraska was about 997.  The average number of deaths per day in Nebraska was about 7.  There have been about 1,775 new cases of COVID-19 in Lancaster County, Nebraska, with 15 new deaths in Lancaster County, Nebraska.  The average number of new cases per day in Lancaster County, Nebraska was about 118.  The average number of deaths per day in Lancaster County, Nebraska was 1.

At this rate (average of 909 deaths per day in the USA), we can expect to suffer another 331,718 deaths over the next 12 months, at which time there may be a safe and effective vaccine available to all Americans and/or a therapeutic available for those with the worst infections.  Added to the 236,564 deaths already experienced, the total would then be 568,272 (over half a million American souls – more than the total KIAs in WWII and Korea combined).  Infection rates appear to be out of control in most of the 50 states in the nation.  The USA leads the world with the highest total number of infections to date of over 9.4 million.  Cases per 1 million population are 28,847.  Very few other nations in the world have more cases per million than does the U.S.A.   Iowa, Mississippi, North Dakota, and South Dakota have the highest number of cases per million population.

I hope you find the material in this update to be informative and of interest.  If you do, please share the link for this blog with your friends through social media and through email.  Thanks for reading and sharing.

My wish for humanity is that it could overcome personal greed, anger, and ignorance; that it could be less competitive and more cooperative; that it could be more concerned about individual suffering anywhere on earth than about individual prosperity just within our own borders.  My wish is that all 7.6 billion human beings on this planet will learn how to share its limited resources equally with every other human, no matter the place of birth, language, location, color, gender, sexuality, religion, etc., of that other human.  Further, my wish is that human beings will interact more gently, peacefully, and respectfully with all non-human forms of life on the planet.  Finally, my wish is that humanity will reverse global warming and prevent a runaway greenhouse event which could destroy all life on the planet.

Feedback is welcome.
