John Brenner was born on May 23, 1943 and passed away on
Friday, July 26, 2019. John was a
resident of Mt. Wolf, Pennsylvania at the time of passing. John graduated in 1961 from Northeastern High
School in Manchester. John served in the
Army during the Vietnam War in 1966 and returned home to actively serve in the
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2493, Mt. Wolf, for the rest of his life. Burial will be in Manchester Union Cemetery.

MOUNT WOLF – John A. Brenner, 76, of Mt. Wolf, PA entered his heavenly
home July 26, 2019. John was born in Sydney, NY, May 23, 1943 to the late Doris
E. Brenner (Latham) and Clair Brenner. / Together, John and his beloved wife
Sandra M. (Aughenbaugh) of 52 years raised three children; John S. Brenner of
York (Adrienne), Jane M. Conrad of Mt. Wolf (Daniel), and Jeffrey R. Brenner of
Woodbury Heights, NJ (Kristine). Proud of his 6 grandchildren; Matthew J.
Schaeffer, Katelyn M. Schaeffer, Samuel J. Brenner, Alexandra M. Brenner,
Tipton H. Brenner, Annabelle R. Brenner and his 3 step grandchildren; Ashlee E.
Conrad, Bryan F. Conrad, Collin J. Conrad. Preceded in death by sister Mary
Brenner, John is also survived by brother Richard Brenner of York (Janet),
sister Sally Senft (Brenner) of York (Edwin), brother Robert Brenner of
Wellsville (Mary), brother Thomas Brenner of Manchester (Sue) and sister Betsy
Swartz (Brenner) of York (Byron) in addition to a large and loving extended
family. / John became a volunteer firefighter with Eagle Fire Company No. 1,
Mt. Wolf, at the age of 16. He was the elected secretary. / John served in the
Army during the Vietnam War in 1966 and returned home to actively serve in the
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2493, Mt. Wolf, for the rest of his life. During
his service in country he was a U.S. Army radio teletype operator. He received
the Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, the Republic of Vietnam
Campaign Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He served as Post 2493
Commander, District 21 Commander and State VFW “All-American” Commander. His
commitment to veterans included service as the President of the Pennsylvania
Veterans War Council and Chairman of the State Veterans Commission. In 2000 he
was honored as the York County Veteran Meritorious Service Award recipient. /
He was elected to Mt. Wolf Borough Council for 10 years, 2 of which as Council
President. He was the elected Judge of Elections in Mt. Wolf Borough for 22
years. President of St. John Lutheran Church Council and an active member of
the senior choir for over 50 years. He was active in the Northeastern and
Pennsylvania Jaycees; U.S. Jaycees Ambassador and JCI Senator. He received the
Lester Wise Memorial Award for distinguished community service. He volunteered
as a cubmaster, youth sports coach, and umpire for decades. John graduated in
1961 from Northeastern High School in Manchester. / John retired from
Pennsylvania Power & Light Company after 32 years as an electrician. He was
a member of the Zeredatha Lodge #451. / Viewings will be held from 2:00 to 4:00
PM, and 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at St. John Lutheran Church, 28
North Third Street, Mount Wolf, and Wednesday from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at the
church. His service will begin at 11:00 AM Wednesday at the church. Officiating
at the service will be his pastor The Reverend Jason Northridge. Burial will be
in Manchester Union Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to The Diehl
Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Mount Wolf. / As a community servant, he

USCIS Policy Manual Update: U.S. Citizenship and
Immigration Services (USCIS) issues policy guidance on “residence” requirements
for acquiring citizenship. This policy
update specifically targets dependent children of U.S. military personnel and U.S.
government employees. This policy change
should be rescinded now.

announced that Returning home for burial with full military honors is Army Cpl.
Gudmund C. Johnson, Jr., who was a member of Company K, 3rd Battalion,
35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, when he was captured by enemy
forces near Unsan, North Korea. He reportedly died while a prisoner of war at
Camp #5, where he was held by the Chinese People's Volunteer Forces. Following
his death, his remains could not be recovered. Interment services are
pending.

Grubb, who was a member of Company M, 3rd Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He was reported missing in action on Dec. 1, 1950, in the vicinity of the Chosin Reservoir, North Korea, when his unit was attacked by enemy forces. Following the battle, his remains could not be recovered. Interment services are pending.

Following the battle, his remains could not be recovered. Interment services are pending.

He was killed June 12, 1944, when the ship was hit by enemy fire. Following the war, his remains could not be identified. Interment services are pending.
The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency has announced that Returning home for burial with full military honors is Navy Seaman 2nd Class Brady O. Prewitt, who was stationed aboard the USS Oklahoma, which was moored at Ford Island, Pearl Harbor, when the ship was attacked by Japanese aircraft on Dec. 7, 1941. The USS Oklahoma was hit multiple times which caused it to capsize quickly and caused the deaths of 429 crewmen, including Prewitt. Interment services are pending.
The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency has announced that Returning home for burial with full military honors is Navy Fireman 2nd Class Albert Renner, who was assigned to the battleship USS West Virginia, which was moored at Ford Island, Pearl Harbor, when the ship was attacked by Japanese aircraft on Dec. 7, 1941The USS West Virginia sustained multiple torpedo hits, but timely counter-flooding measures taken by the crew prevented it from capsizing, and it came to rest on the shallow harbor floor. The attack on the ship resulted in the deaths of 106 crewmen, including Renner. Interment services are pending.
